High as a Kite
No, not that kind of high!!! I guess I should watch how I write in light of some of my confessions in the Social D post!
Today, I was blessed to administer the sacrament of Holy Baptism to a beautiful, 4 month old baby boy. It was just an amazing experience to know that this child became a part of Christ’s sacred body. The most wonderful part of the entire experience was the reminder of how I merely stand in for someone greater than I. As Father Luther said, baptism should be received as if from the hand of Christ himself.
There are times in my life and ministry when I realize how wonderful God is and continues to be to a “rotting sack of maggot fodder” like me. And yet I get to be there for all of the important moments in peoples’ lives, speaking words of grace and blessing to them. I’ve seen births and deaths, marriages and divorces, people leaving the faith and people seeking reconcilitation to Jesus Christ. It was nice to be there on the happy side today, as William was marked with the Cross of Christ, and sealed by the Holy Spirit forever.
