  1. I give the editors credit for presenting more than one view.

It is interesting that in the past when they do this on some issues, people write in all upset about the side they don’t hold to being presented.

  2. ps from PS, just noticed your new look. Any your new self-identity. I sense that this fits you well. Best wishes.

  3. It seems Lutherans have a long history of schisms and reunions and that doesn’t stop everyone from getting on with getting on with what is vital: “the Gospel preached and the sacraments rightly administered.”

  4. The article does point to the fact that there have been far more mergers/reunions than splits over among Lutherans since landing in the US.

  5. LP…I haven’t read the article, but where does the E & R fit in here =) (w/ a big twinkle in my eye)

  6. Kit,

They merged to be part of the UCC. There’s a former E & R parish here in the city and they celebrate Communion every Sunday, are liturgically more conservative, and wouldn’t dream of “Rock, Paper, Scissors” as an adequate address. Okay, I’m being snarky.

  7. E&R????? Help me out with the alphabet soup.

  8. Christopher,
I know about the UCC part…that was the reason for the wink–my mom grew up E +R and was part of the merger thing. I was vurious as to what series of odd events/schisms and mergers actually led to there being an E+R (Evangelical and Reform) Church. It’s always seemed like strange bedfellows.
