Gator Update

What a lackluster performance against Kentucky. We got the job done, but it wasn’t pretty. A couple of items of concern:

1. Two blocked PAT’s. Are you kidding me? You can spare a couple of those on UK, but what happens when we play Auburn, LSU, or UGA? We can’t leave points on the field.

2. We gave up a lot of yards. 210 passing and 63 rushing. Most were in the first half, as the Defense settled a bit late.

3. The O-line was a bit to giving. They let the defense get to Leak too many times.

The good things:

1. Chris Leak played well considering the pressure he was under from the blitzing schemes. 267 passing yards and 2 TD’s. There was one ill advised pass tht got picked off.

2. Tim Tebow lit the crowd up with his play, stepping in for Leak to run the option. Nothing is stranger than to see the Gators run an option offense, but it worked. Tebow accounted for over 70 yards on the ground and 12 in the air.

3. They ran a sweet double flea flicker for a TD in the first quarter. I thought the Ole Ball Coach was back on the sidelines.

Next week: The hated University of Alabama at home. We lost last year 31-3 in the worst loss in recent memory. Not only do I want to see a win, I want to see a BIG win.

The final numbers:
26-7 win over Kentucky
4-0 overall
2-0 SEC
1 in SEC Eastern Division
5 overall in both AP and Coaches’ Poll
