The "Ongoing" Reformation, Redux

So I came across this today thanks to Pr David. It seems that Bp. Hanson does attempt to spell out what he means.

Dear Colleagues,
Greetings in the name of our crucified and risen Christ!

The "Ongoing" Reformation?

I’ve been thinking a good deal lately about the use of the phrase, “the ongoing Reformation,” and its variants. I tend to hear this term most often when attending synodical or national gatherings. The most pronounced usage, I believe, is by Bp. Hansen, who seems to toss it around a pretty fair amount. The issue [...]

A Further Thought

The road to Rome or to Eastern Orthodoxy is by no means one way. On Reformation Sunday, I received 5 Roman Catholics into our fellowship. Our congregation consists of a number of former Roman Catholics and at least two families that were formerly Eastern Orthodox.
I felt I needed to point that out.

Lutheran Converts to Orthodoxy

I’ve long admired Rev. John Fenton and the work he has done with the preservation and repristination of the liturgy in Evangelical-Catholic circles of Lutheranism. I first discovered his work a few years ago by stumbling across his church’s website. Well, it seems the good Pastor has resigned his post and is converting to Orthodoxy. [...]

The Weekend

Normally this post is reserved for me to blather on endlessly about University of Florida football. You would think this would especially be the case since we were playing Georgia, our oldest and arguably most despised rival. UF won, moving us up in the rankings and putting is in a position that, if we win [...]

Frankenstein’s Monster

Have I mentioned before that my favorite horror movie monster of all time is Frankenstein’s Monster?
I’ve been wanting to write a longer post about this movie, and may do so later. But for now, I just thought I would pay homage to The Monster as portrayed by Boris Karloff.

16 Down…

…3 to go.
Pages, that is. Just 3 more pages until I finish my papers. I am doing pages 9, 10, and 11, which ask you to reflect on duties detailed in the letter of call.
It goes a little something like this:
Please give examples of your work or experience in each of the following [...]

Side Bar Updates

SO I finally got around to adding some folks to sidebar. Take a look if you haven’t read them before.
Postings from Prarie Hill is a blog by a young pastor serving a rural Texas congregation. And he is a liturgical geek, so he is in good company here.
Sarcastic Lutheran is the ravings of…well…a [...]

Merton, Polonius, and a Rambling Post

To find the full meaning of our existence we must find not the meaning that we expect but the meaning that is revealed to us by God. – Thomas Merton, The New Man.
In spite of the little bump I hit on Tuesday trying to attend an event that I couldn’t even find a parking spot [...]

I’m an Uncle (Again)

Welcome to the world Victoria! I can’t wait to see you!
