16 Down…

…3 to go.

Pages, that is. Just 3 more pages until I finish my papers. I am doing pages 9, 10, and 11, which ask you to reflect on duties detailed in the letter of call.

It goes a little something like this:

Please give examples of your work or experience in each of the following areas:

a. Preach and teach the Word of God
b. Administer Holy Baptism and Holy Communion
c. Lead in Worship
d. Proclaim the forgiveness of sin
e. Provide pastoral care
f. Speak on behalf of the poor and oppressed
g. Encourage persons to prepare for the ministry of the Gospel
h. Impart knowledge of the ELCA and its wider ministry
i. Endeavor to increase support given by the congregation to the work of the whole church
j. Equip congregation for witness and service
k. Guide a congregation in proclaiming God’s love through word and deed

Looks like I have my work cut out for today.

On a side note, I have been re-reading Merton’s The New Man. This struck me as interesting today (ladies, please excuse the overly male language here):

The war between life and death within us is a war in which we are fighting not only for our life and our true freedom, but also, at the same time, for the glory and kingdom of God. For when the truth of Christ has made us free, the we are what we are meant to be: images of the Divine Father, sons who work with the Father to establish His perfect Kingdom of freedom.

That quote makes me think of Manermaa and the Finnish School of Luther. Blah Blah.
