100 Acts in 100 Days: Act 14-22
Art reminded me I had been slacking, so here is my list to get caught up.
14. Bob Marley
- I listened to so much Marley in seminary it wasn’t funny. I still love his music and the consciousness it produces.
15. David Bowie

- especially the Ziggy Stardust era. It was so the perfection of glam space rock.
16. Dave Brubeck
- fronted a great jazz quartet. I kind of feel like a grown up when I listen to him.
17. Front 242
-a little industrial is good for everyone.
18. Horrorpops

-I was once in love with Patricia (above). You see, I have a thing for girls with bangs, unnatural hair colors, and tattoos. Plus she plays bass. But she is married to Kim Nekroman, so I quit stalking her. That, and I met my wife, who is able to more than hold my interest with her bangs and tattoos, even if her hair is now a normal color.
19. Jane’s Addiction
-even though I think Dave Navarro is tool. Seriously, a tool.
20. The Cure
-I never feel as happy to be sad as when I listen to them. Even though Derek swears the newer stuff like Bloodflowers is better, I prefer the older Boys Don’t Cry era.
21. Pantera
-for when I need some metal in my life. I like to listen to Vulgar Display of Power during workouts.
22. The Hillbilly Hellcats
-great rockabilly revival group from Colorado.

mmmmm david bowie.
I first saw the Cure back in 1978 at the Moonlight Club, West Hampstead, London supporting The Soul Boys. I actually preferred the Soul Boys at the time who, unlike the Cure, sank without a trace very quickly in deed.
“Killin An Arab” was good.
mmmmm david bowie.
I liked Pascal’s quote as well. You’d know something like this, is he pretty theologically sound?
I would have to defer judgment on Pascal as a theologian/philosopher to someone more learned than myself. I haven’t read him since college, but recall liking his stuff then.
I don’t think I ever said the recent stuff was *better*–just that it shouldn’t be assumed that the group died after Disentigration…
