Live Blogging
For all you church geeks out there, I think I may do some live blogging from the Synod Assembly this year. I usually end up reading throughout most of it anyway, so at least this will keep me occupied. Honestly, I think we could do this whole thing in one day, maybe a day and half, but no one asked me.
This year should prove to be somewhat interesting. With the whole Brad Schmeling trial came another wave of sexuality talk, and several resolutions about sexuality from all sides of the debate. I am sure this will dominate the resolutions part of our assembly. We are also electing a new Bishop, as Bp. Ron Warren will be leaving our synod to serve Lutheran Disaster Response. All things considered, I think Bp. Warren has been an asset to our Synod. I’ve heard a few names batted around informally, but my gut feeling is that it will be a suprise for us all. We elect via an ecclesiastical ballot, so we don’t have nominees upfront like other churches.
So if you are really bored next weekend, come on by and read my posts!

I feel confident that he will make it pretty far, but I am not sure if he will win it. I hear he is rough on interns!

JW??!? I’m going to be a bishop in the ELCA? Wow…I’m flattered…but…I’m not even ordained yet.

I live-blogged the Rocky Mountain Synod assembly here: http://www.progressiveinvolvement.com. It was kind of fun to do it, and was an interesting perspective from which to view synod assembly.
Plus, I didn’t have anything else better to do.

those talks always seem to be interesting with so many different views and perspectives that people have.
