I belong to a denomination that does not support lay presidency, but I’ve also belonged to a denomination (MCC) that does. For me, some of it is about possibility. Even if England were ever in full communion with Rome, I wouldn’t ever receive the Eucharist in that community. With or without lay presidence. Until the possibility of a person like me being ordained exists. Theology is fabulous, but exclusion isn’t. And they are not unrelated.
