Proof Positive: Out of Touch
Since we had the baby (and since Mrs. LP got pregnant again quickly), we have not been hanging out and listening to bands. I think I went to a total of 2 shows last year, which is less than I used to go to in a week.
I have said on this blog several times that one of my absolute favorite bands (signed or not) is the Tennessee Rounders. What a great blend of honky tonk and rockabilly! I drank many a PBR tall boy over at Smith’s while listening to them. Hell, I even trekked up to Chattanooga to see them to a packed house at Rhythm and Brews, which proved to be a great night and one of the most fun times Mrs. LP and I had at a show EVER. In fact, the very first conversation Mrs. LP and I ever had was about this band (then known as just The Rounders), as I had seen them two days before I met her. Today, the (now former) guitar player for the band, Peewee Moore, posted a comment here and said that the band was no longer together as of August of last year. This really bums me out.
The silver lining in all of this is that Peewee has started a new band called Peewee Moore and the Awful Dread Snakes. Really great traditional country with outlaw sensibility. Hit up the website (which is still under construction) here, or check out the myspace page to hear tracks from the upcoming disc.
Ah well, damn! Anyway, here is a nice little video playing a song off the “Honkytonkabilly” disc as a final tribute.

How cool about the comment! That is a real traditional country sound but isn’t there just a hint of hill country blues influence there, or is it just me? I’m not at all familiar with them but this has got me interested in Peewee’s new band…
