New Goals
Ok, so I know I said these were to be “weekly” goals, and it has been more than two weeks since I posted, but here we go. Goal number one of increasing my intake of water to the minimum recommended amount of 8 cups of water (64 ounces or about 1.5 liters for you metric readers out there) has been successful. I’ve also eliminated soda, opting for herbal tea if I need something else during the day. I feel pretty good about that. And believe it or not, I actually do feel better. The goal of adding a basic multi-vitamin every day has also been met (due in large part to the fact that my wife takes it out everyday when she takes out her pre-natal vitamin…thanks Sweetheart!).
So here are my new goals:
1. Increase daily water intake from 64 ounces to 80 ounces.
2. Continue the daily multi-vitamin.
3. Walk a lap around the neighborhood three times weekly.
A lap around my subdivision measures 1.5 miles. Not exactly a marathon, but I need a modest goal to get going. I did it today and timed myself on my iPod in order to set goals for the walk each time. Ultimately, the goal is to do it a little faster each time. Long term goals with this include introducing intervals of running until I can jog the whole thing, as well as increasing the distance and/or frequency of this little drill. But those are long term. Today I am just glad I walked it!

Congratulations! Little steps is the way to do it. Most people try to do too much too fast and end up frustrated, injured, or both.
Amen to your post and to BentonQuest’s. One of my friends just about overdid herself out of some very needed changed.
Me? I’m cold - we’ve moved - we have a kid - yeah, I’m slackin’. Thanks for the kick in the ass.
Me too…I needed the cattle prod to the back side as well.
