Kudos

I have to admit, so far the MD training has been pretty good. Most – not all – of the presentations were good and helpful. I do like the fact that they have not focused on techniques and how-to seminars, but have really just given us the foundation and allowed us to work our own plan. I still have to knock on doors, but I don’t feel nearly as worried about that as I did before coming.

It has also been interesting being here at the “Mother Ship”. Chapel was very good this morning, with worship enhanced by the Gospel Choir. I love African-American worship music (except when a bunch of suburban white folks attempt to sing it), so today was a special treat. Funny thing is that the chapel at the Lutheran Center looks an awful lot like a more upscale version of the store front I serve (we just don’t have the fancy art).

Anyway, kudos to the EOCM staff for a training session that has been well done.

LOL, LP! I have almost those exact words in a post I have sitting in drafts. Our congregation sang “This Little Light of Mine” a few weeks ago. It was played on the organ, and at a tempo that was toooo slow. Add to that being sung by a bunch of white folks with midwestern roots, and you have a big ol’ mess.

Glad your training is going well.

  2. If you get a chance, say hello to my friend Jenn Ollikainen for me – she works in the worship office. I’m sure you’d enjoy talking with her.

    Glad you’re enjoying your training.
