Benedictine Triumphalism, or, When Bloggers Dream

So last night I had this dream that I was a leading a retreat on monastic spirituality. When I started talking about the Franciscans and their contributions, Derek appeared in the front of the room with me, where he said, “You know, LP, the Franciscans were really created to provide a cover for a group of assassins.”

Huh?

  2. That is fricking sweet.

  3. I think that trumps my dream last night. I dreamed I was teaching again, and everything was going great - better than it ever did when I really was teaching. Just as I was marvelling at the love of literature my students had, I discovered they had been stealing my laundry money. They thought that my jar of quarters (which why I had that on my desk at school I’ll never know) was bribery to get them to like reading. That’s when I woke up.

  4. Too funny!

I’ve been having a recurring dream where I’m in spiritual direction with a panel of evangelicals. I tell them about my spiritual life and they just sit there shaking their heads and clucking. I have no clue what I feel guilty about, but obviously it’s something, huh? :-)

  5. Well, Derek is a Ph.D. candidate, you know. He must know what he’s talking about; we should listen to him…..

    ;-D
