bls - i think you are right about the Va. law. It does seem to be an exception in property disputes. Most other places where they have gone to court, TEC has had no problem winning.

Christopher - I am afraid you are right. I understand the PCUSA (or one of its presbyteries) sued a breakaway congregation recently using the same arguments TEC has used.

Chris - I honestly don't know. I've always thought CCM a good thing personally, but who knows if some of that factors in here.

Interesting.
Do you have any clue how/if this relates to CCM?
Peace,
Chris

Oh no, it's very clear this is the wave of the future. I've seen this coming in the upping of episcopal power in the ELCA these last few years.

I think all religious bodies who aren't Congregationalist do see themselves as having a dog in the hunt, though. I believe the Virginia law is going to be challenged on Constitutional grounds, although honestly I don't know very much about it myself. You can see why this might be so, for hierarchical churches, I think.

I do know the VA law is unlike laws in any other states, though, and the thinking is that it will be challenged in the highest courts. And perhaps overturned.

I'm telling you it's one of those days that should be abolished. I end up buying something that isn't all that great no matter how I try. Better to be able to take my mom out to a nice meal in person, clean out her storage shed for her and other chores when we visit. It's even harder with my dad.

Asheville, posh resort? Maybe the Grove Park INN! WOW, a great place to spend a weekend. In my new job, this is HQ for me, I go there quite often (Asheville, not the Grove Park), but the Inn is fabulous.

I think Mrs.LP is fine, she was probaly not enthusiastic just due to the crowds at the house, family and all is very stressful to alot of people. Plus you all have moved in the past year, which is one of the top 5 stressful things in your life, and then had another baby!

The way gas is going and all of the tradeins of big SUV's hold our about a year and you should be able to pay cash for an Excursion or suburban even on a pastors' salary. The prices are dropping fast! Just don't drive alot and they will pay for themselves in reliability.

Yeah, that is what I was thinking. Sweet truck and all, but Lutheran pastors don't make that kind of bread! At least this one doesn't!

Oh, I don't mean teeny tiny ones - I never actually understood the point of those. There are ones that still have three rows of seats but aren't giant gas guzzlers either.

It was Chevy that has they hybrid SUV, by the way:
